"How Being Self-Aware Helps

Let's say you want to redecorate your bedroom. You've been living in the same space for years and have decided that it doesn't suit you anymore.

The first step is to make a plan. You'd survey your room and decide what still works and needs to be kept and what changes need to be made. Maybe your bed is super comfortable and you love it. You'll keep that and possibly that corkboard that holds all of your memories. What about that old scratched-up desk? It's full of garbage that you don't even use anymore. That can go. What about the color of your walls? Does looking at them still bring you joy or maybe you have a new favorite color?

Next, you figure out what you want to accomplish. What does your dream room look like? What do you need to make it happen? You may have everything you need to complete it right away, but more often you'll have to collect each perfect piece one at a time.

This is not unlike working on your own self-development, it's only when you keep these things in mind that you will start to make positive changes. In order to become the person you want to be, you need a clear vision of who you are today."
